SAP Canada to Expand Montreal Presence With New Office and New Hires

SAP Canada revealed its plans for the new office at Place Ville Marie.

The thriving enterprise software company SAP Canada has announced plans to open a new office in Montreal for research and development through its Sap Labs division. The company revealed its plans for the new office at Place Ville Marie in a January 21st press release. The space for their new office will undergo a multi-million-dollar renovation to better suit the current work environment, keeping in mind the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rapid Growth for Montreal Tech Sector

The move to a new office will include creating a new engineering team that will focus on the development of SAP’s Consumer Industry Cloud. This cloud service develops technology solutions for over two dozen different industries around the world. Rapid growth is expected during 2021, and the expansion project has already created 30 new positions.

The company believes very strongly in the future of the Quebec tech market, with Managing Director of Sap Labs Canada, Cindy Fagen, stating that “SAP has a deep history in Montreal, and we recognize the city as a global innovation hub with incredible talent and tech ecosystem.”

SAP Canada Among Top Employers

The move comes shortly after SAP Canada was honored as one of the best employers in Canada. SAP Canada was a featured company of the 13th annual Glassdoor Employee’s Choice Award on January 13th. SAP took the 8th spot on the list, behind tech giants Apple, Microsoft, and Google.

The award is based entirely on employee feedback and reviews received through the Glassdoor platform. It demonstrates the company’s commitment to its staff. Company President Andy Canham commented that “At the core of our business is culture, and if there is anything the past year has shown us, it’s that our people are the heart of our business.”

Building an Office Geared Towards the Future

The company has enlisted the renowned Sid Lee Architecture to design their new office. SAP Canada has stated that the design’s goal will be to create a new kind of flexible environment that can accommodate the new way of working that we’ll have in a post-pandemic world. At 5 Place Ville Marie, the new office will be about 65,000 square feet and is replacing the existing Montreal office at Robert-Bourassa and de Maisonneuve.

SAP Canada believes that the future of tech workspaces will be dominated by flexibility. They highlight the 4 C’s: concentration, collaboration, communication, and community. Architect and Project Director at Sid Lee Architecture Marie-Andrée Busque says, “The space is activated with strategies that foster culture and innovation.”
