About the Role
Our client is a CNC machining shop specializing in the manufacturing of precision components. The company delivers projects for multiple industrial sectors in a dynamic environment where machinists work on a wide variety of parts and small production batches.
What You Will Do
You will develop, modify, and optimize programs directly on CNC machines (G-code / Mazatrol), primarily on Mazak machining centers. You will perform complete setups, including part installation and fixture setup, tool presetting, program loading, and first-piece inspection with offset adjustments.
Once production begins, you will monitor the machining process, select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds, and quickly troubleshoot alarms, tool wear, or errors to minimize downtime. You will perform quality control using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges), verify tolerances, and document inspection results.
You will read and interpret complex technical drawings, perform calculations related to dimensions and tolerances, and contribute to routine equipment maintenance while following safety procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist (intermediate or senior level)
- Mandatory experience with Mazak machines (Mazatrol)
- Strong knowledge of setups and programming directly at the machine (no Mastercam in this environment)
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand machining tolerances
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining issues
- DEP in Machining Techniques or equivalent training: an asset
- Experience with multi-axis machining (3, 4, or 5 axes): an asset
- Experience with other CNC milling machine brands (Haas, Takumi, Hyundai, Fadal): an asset
Work Environment
CNC machining shop with small-batch production and diverse machining projects, producing small to medium-sized components. Typical batches include 10, 15, or 50 pieces, with frequent production changeovers. Programming is done directly on the machines (no Mastercam).
