Conventional and CNC Machinist – Evening Shift
Our client, a company specializing in mechanical repair as well as parts machining, is looking for a motivated Machinist to support major projects across Quebec, including hydroelectric, mining, and industrial sectors.
Schedule
- Monday to Thursday
- 4:20 pm to 2:30 am
- Training provided during day shift
Responsibilities
- Operate conventional and CNC machine tools
- Machine parts in a repair context
- Machine new parts according to client specifications and technical drawings
- Perform other related machinist duties
Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in machining techniques or Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in a machine shop
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a machinist
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Organized, versatile, and resourceful
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
Assets
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming
- Experience in repair and fabrication of mechanical components
- Ability to read technical drawings in English
- Knowledge of conversational CNC programming
Machines Used
- Horizontal conventional and CNC lathes
- Vertical conventional and CNC lathes (Fagor)
- Horizontal boring mill, conventional or CNC (Fagor and Fanuc)
Working Conditions
- Salary: 28.94 to 40.63 dollars per hour
- Equipment premium: 2 to 5 dollars per hour
- Overtime: time and a half and double time depending on period
- Salary progression after 2000 hours with indexation
- Seniority bonus after 5, 10, 15, and 20 years (up to 4 dollars)

Additional Notes
- We hire machinists, not machine operators
- CNC programming is performed in conversational mode by machinists
- Weekend shift positions may be available after training for experienced autonomous machinists (36 hours paid as 40 hours, Friday to Sunday 12 hour shifts, salary 34.60 to 41.81 dollars per hour with the same equipment premiums)
