CNC Machinist - Operator

CNC Machinist / Operator Role

The CNC multi-machine operator (or CNC machinist) is responsible for producing parts using multiple machines according to work instructions that meet client requirements. The operator may start or continue production depending on workshop needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform adjustments, assembly, and repairs necessary to manufacture parts of varying complexity (fixtures, parts, tools, etc.).
  • Use all systems required for equipment operation: probing, laser, CNC program transfer, etc.
  • Follow machining instructions and complete all required documentation: process sheets, MOS, MIS, tool life records, etc.
  • Ensure cutting tools are in good condition and functioning properly.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Actively participate in problem-solving, daily team meetings, and the development of new products and tools.
  • Carry out tasks related to TPM maintenance plans and 6S standards.
  • Deburr and inspect parts, and perform other related operational tasks.
  • Maintain continuity between shifts through documentation and communication of actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
  • Perform any other tasks necessary to support the team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • DEP (Machinist) or ASP (CNC) or minimum 3 years of experience on CNC machines.
  • Proficiency with measurement instruments: micrometer, caliper, and other tools (bore gauge, etc.).
  • Knowledge of tooling: identify when a tool is worn and needs replacement, understand surface finishes.
