CNC Operator

Role Summary

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the CNC Operator is responsible for cutting steel components in accordance with production specifications and ensuring parts meet required quality standards.


Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Training in CNC machinery (an asset)
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the metalworking or steel industry (an asset)
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading
  • Ability to work with both metric and imperial measurement systems
  • Skilled in the use of measuring tools, hoists, and cranes
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn on the job
  • Responsible, versatile, and autonomous
  • Good physical condition, able to remain standing for extended periods
  • Familiarity with health and safety practices in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC plasma cutting equipment to prepare steel parts
  • Verify cut quality, label components, and maintain proper filing
  • Safely handle steel materials and scrap using overhead cranes
  • Ensure proper consumables and cutting gases are in place
  • Monitor and replace consumables as needed, identifying unusual wear
  • Change and connect gas cylinders following safety standards
  • Perform routine maintenance on cutting tables, heads, and filters
  • Support other production activities as required
