CNC Plasma Operator

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Production Lead, the CNC Plasma Operator is responsible for preparing and cutting steel materials according to technical drawings and work orders, ensuring finished components meet internal quality standards.
Qualifications • High school diploma • Formal CNC training (an asset) • Approximately 1-2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting • Background in metal fabrication or steel processing (considered an advantage) • Ability to accurately interpret mechanical drawings • Comfortable working with metric and imperial measurements • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments • Experience using overhead cranes or material handling equipment • Strong communication skills and openness to ongoing training • Dependable, adaptable, and capable of working independently • Physically able to remain standing for extended shifts • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices in an industrial setting
Key Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting equipment to process steel parts • Verify dimensions and quality of completed cuts • Identify and organize finished components according to production requirements • Transport raw materials and scrap safely using overhead lifting equipment • Ensure appropriate consumables and gases are installed prior to operation • Monitor wear on cutting components and report abnormalities • Replace gas cylinders safely in compliance with safety procedures • Perform routine upkeep on machinery and filtration systems • Assist with additional shop-floor tasks as required
